Typically, a South Indian dish, Rasam is known for its health benefits, lip-smacking taste and enticing aroma. It is beneficial for health because of its digestive qualities....

Ingredients : 

Mustard seeds -  
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Red chilies - 4
Garlic - 1 pod
Tomatoes diced - 2 big
Turmeric powder - ½ tbsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Crushed Fenugreek - ½ tsp
Tamarind pulp - 1 cup
Asfoetida - a pinch
Coriander leaves - for garnishing
Pepper slightly crushed - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - as required

Method :

Add some oil to a hot pan and splutter mustard seeds. Then add curry leaves and red chillies, followed by garlic and diced tomatoes and cook for some time. Add a pinch of turmeric powder, red chilly powder, coriander powder and crushed fenugreek, salt and combine well. Add enough water and cook for sometime.

When it boils add tamarind pulp, asfoetida, coriander leaves and crushed pepper. Close the lid and let it boil for sometime.

Serve hot and enjoy... Its a great dish to serve in cold weather, or when you are suffering from a sore throat or runny nose.
