Dal, Drumstick-leaf Thoran

Ingredients:

   

Black gram dhal, Tuvar dhal

- 2 dsp each

Bengal gram

- 4 dsp

Grated coconut

- 1 cup

Cummin seed

- 1 pinch

Turmeric powder

- 1/ tsp

Shallots

- 3

Green chillies

- 3

Drumstick leaves

- 11/2 cups

Salt

To Season

-  

Oil

- 2 dsp

Dry chillies

- 3

Mustard

- 1/ tsp

Black gram dhall

- 1/ dsp

Rice

- 1/ dsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig

Method:

Soak the different dhalls in water for 2 hours and grind to a coarse paste. Mix the leaves with paste and enough salt and steam it. Powder it with the help of a fork. Grind the cummin, turmeric and then crush the coconut, green chillies and shallots together.

Heat the oil, fry the broken chillies, mustard, rice, bengal gram and the curry leaves. Put the crushed coconut. Stir well for 5 minutes and then mix the powdered dhall and drumstick leaves.

Stir till dry and hot. Remove from fire and serve immediately.
