Vazhakka Bajji or Plantain Bhaji

'Bajji' is a very common snack devoured all over India. Though a bit oily, it is a yummy snack. Today we gonna make a Bajji out of Plantain. Its called 'Vazhakka Bajji' in south India..
Ingredients
Plantain (Raw banana) - 2-3 nos
Gram flour - 2 cup
Asafoetida powder - ¾ tsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Water - enough to make a thick batter
Oil - for deep-frying

Cooking Method

Slice the raw banana length wise along with the skin after removing both ends.

Now take a bowl, put gram flour, red chilly powder, asafetida powder, required amount of salt and water into it.

Mix well to form a thick batter...

Put the pan on the stove.. Pour oil in to the pan and let it heat up...

Dip the slices of plantain in the batter and deep-fry them in oil.

Fry till the plantain pieces turn orange in colour...

Take them out and serve hot, with coconut chutney........
