Special Sardine Curry

Sardine is a small, oily fish rich in nutrients, popular in the coastal state of Kerala.

Known as 'Mathi' or 'Chala' in the local language Malayalam, this special Sardine recipe is contributed by Abdul Hameed Kochery.

Ingredients : 

1) Mathi (cleaned) : 500 gram
2) Chilly Powder : 2 tea spoon
  Turmeric Powder : 1.5 tea spoon
  Garlic, Ginger, Chilly Paste : 10 gram
  Curry Leaves : 2 bunch
  Small Onion : 100 grams
  Tomato : 200 gram (1 or 2)
  Water : 2 glasses
For Tempering:    
  Small Onion    
  Dry Red Chilly    
  Coconut Oil    
  Curry Leaves

Method :

Clean all second ingredients and put in a pot, preferably in a mud pot, mix well, add some water and cook. Put tamarind paste followed by fish. Boil till the fish is well done for 10 minutes or so. Switch off the flame.

Take another pot, put oil and other tempering ingredients, sauté till tender, and pour it to the curry. Serve hot.
