The FIFA World Best Player of the Year award is presented annually by FIFA, since 1991. Initially the award was bestowed only on the world's best male player but from 2001 it was awarded to both sexes, and from 2010 presented exclusively to the best female player. From 2010 to 2015, the world's best
men's player was awarded the FIFA Ballon d'Or. In 2016, FIFA created The Best FIFA
awards to honour the best performing men & women players and coaches in Football.
