Tamatar Kadhi

Ingredients :

Tomato puree - 1 cup
Tomato - 8
Gram flour (besan) - 4 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
Dry red chillies - 4 to 5
Curry leaves - few
Asafoetida - a pinch
Salt - to taste
coriander leaves - 2 tbsp

Preparation :

Take gram flour in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and mix.

Now add fresh tomato puree along with a cups of water and mix well.

Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let it splutter.

Add dry red chillies and curry leaves along with a pinch of asafoetida, and saute well.

Now we can add the tomato puree mixture mix and let it boil.

Once the mixture starts to thicken add chopped tomatoes and mix well. Reduce heat and cook for about ten minutes till the gravy thickens.

Season with coriander leaves.
Optional: Add sugar if the kadhi is too sour.

Tamatar Kadhi is ready.. Transfer to a dish and serve hot...
