Originally a painter, Adrian Paci works in film, photography, sculpture and installation. He was born in Shkoder, Albania in 1969. He lectured in art history and aesthetics in Shkodėr from 1995 until 1997. Having fled his homeland Albania in 1997 during the civil war, his practice regularly explores the experience of exile and immigration.
His work frequently addresses themes of geographical separation, nostalgia, and memory, and conveys a keen sense of the mutability of life and art. He currently lives and works in Milan, Italy. Paci has held numerous individual exhibitions. Primarily known for his work in performance and video, he explores similar subjects in painting, photography, and sculpture.
In 2014 Kochi Biennale, Paci Archives the story of lives set afloat by forces of globalisation; exploring times of exile, homelessness and the nature of community and of memory in an age of intense mobility. 'The column' weaves into the journey of the stone and its carves the innumerable tales of transit that make up human history of travel and maritime exchange.
