Francesco Clemente was born in Naples, Italy, in 1952 but now lives and works in Rome, New York and Chennai is an contemporary Artist. After an early academic background in classical languages and literature, he briefly enrolled as an architecture student at the University of Rome. Since 1973 he has frequently resided and worked in India. In 1981 Clemente moved to New York City, where he currently lives with his wife and children.
His nomadic lifestyle has had major contribution in his works that have a spiritual connect and representation of a body and mind. Clemente's art has been presented in solo and group shows internationally. In Kochi Biennale 2014. he has chosen a tent as a canvas and painted it with powerful imagery drawn from his tour across the world, including India.
