In a bowl add butter, orange extract and food coloring and beat well.
Add a cup of powdered sugar and mix well until a smooth dough forms.
Remove dough from the bowl, separate it into 1-4 smaller balls. Roll each ball into long thin cylinders about 1 cm wide on a greased rolling board. Slice cylinders into bite-sized pieces using a knife.
Store buttermints in an airtight container in the refrigerator or serve immediately.
