Shallot chutney is a great accompaniment to vada, idli, dosa, upma and even appams. It is one of the easiest chutneys, one can prepare instantly. Basic ingredients that you require are: -

Ingredients :

   
Shallots thinly chopped - ½ cup
Green chillies - 2-3
Grated Coconut - ¼ cup
Soaked Tamarind - 1-2 tsp
Mustard seeds - ¼ tsp
Oil - 2-3 tbsp

Cooking Method :

Add thinly chopped shallots in a blender along with chopped green chillies, grated coconut and soaked tamarind. Grind well until a thick consistency is achieved.

Heat oil in a shallow pan at medium mode, and splutter mustard seeds. Add the formerly made ground paste into the pan. Sauté and fry the ground paste until it turns golden brown. Shallot Chutney is ready to serve.
