Chandru is a maverick. That he and his friends are still alive, with
his rash driving and devil -may-care attitude is surprise. The pulse
of Chennai's Kuppams and autorickshaws beats inside him and he's just,
well, a cool-dude auto driver(God save you, if you are his "savaari",though!)
Chandru's darling is Lakshmi, his grafitti-laden, souped-up auto that
goes at speeds even cars are shocked at. Quile the speed demons, Chandru
and Lakshmi whiz thru the streets of Chennai and outside with fire on
their tails. Lakshmi gets competition from good biriyani, a pretty face
and the most education their kuppam has ever seen - from Rani, the local
biriyani vendor. No problem, the chemistry's good. The bravado filled,
hothead Chandru is totally different around Rani...around her,he's always
thinking of something smart to say to her, always fidding with his hair
and always looking for a way to score with her.
Rani is inquisitive as hell. Too many questions all the time. Knows
that she can read a letter or two more than anyone else on the street.
Heck, superiority never hunt anyone up to a certain point. She likes
Chandru, although she's a little wary of him. Bad-boy image and all
that still, Chemistry's chemistry and you can't run away frm it.
Bigle and his auto shed. Both soothe the pains of injured autorickshaws
under Bigle's purview. The palace where lakshmi is rushed to for everything
from an appreciative clank to tinkering to souping up. Still, biqle
himself is a bit of a cynic.Fatalist even. Wondering what the big deal
about life is.....
Son of Gun. Has his own little fold of devotees and rival autos.Taunting, sarctic,
a pretty mean guy. Very practical though there's no pulling the wool
over HIS eyes. And of course,he and his shed is also Bigle's sworn enemies.
This here is a life of ordinary Chennai kuppams and the title thrills
that drive an otherwise tough life. If's never life as usual in Chennai's
auto culture.
There're gang wars and alpha male fights, but in Oram Po, not always
with their fists,but with.....autorickshaws!
The underground drag-racing scene is strong and fuelled with fire and
in Chennai, it's done with autos - powerful, fast, absolutely unsafe....
and viscerally exciting.... Oram Po-Auto varudhu,da!
