Director Blessy who gave us Kazhcha, Thanmaatra and Palunku is to direct a new film "Calcutta News" and this is his first film with Dileep and Meera. After the success of 'Vinodayathra' Dileep and Meera Jasmine are making their fifth screen appearance together for this movie.

Dileep plays the role of a young investigative television reporter Ajith Thomas, working for Calcutta News. For this role Dileep sports a formal look wearing smart casuals, ID tag around his neck, stylish spectacles and straightened hair falling to his fore head. Meera Jasmine the leading lady, plays the role of Krishna Priya, a married woman. One day while investigating a story Ajith Thomas meets Krishna Priya (Meera Jasmine), who lost her husband in mysterious circumstances, a few weeks after her marriage. What happens after is the plot of the movie.

The film has an impressive star cast including Indrajit, Vimala Raman, Innocent, Bindu Panikkar and a host of Bengali actors. The film is shot completely in Kolkata. S. Kumar wields the camera for the film, produced by Thampy Antony, under the banner of Kayal films. Deb Jyothi, former assistant of the legendary music director Salil Chowdhari lends music for the film.

The movie earlier slated for release during Onam will now hit the screens at Ramzan.
