After the super hit movie Mr. Brahmachari, director Thulasidas is again
teaming up with Mohanlal for his second directorial venture 'College
Kumaran', a campus-based flick. The film, along with the current social
issues deals with the problems faced by students.
Mohanlal plays the role of Kumarettan, an ex-military officer, who
is forced to take up the running of the college canteen, which was maintained
for years by Kumaran's family. Kumarettan, though a canteen caretaker
has been the all in all of Mahatma college for the past ten years. He
is friendly with the college students and they admire him very much.
They seek advice in almost all matters, including personal issues of
love and they include him in all major college events and tours. He
has a say in all college matters and he knows each and everything that's
happening around. He is a protector of sorts and helps out three girls
who falls into the trap of serial makers.
When a new college English lecturer Madhavi (Vimala Raman) joins the
college, she questions his authoritative interference in college matters.
She feels that he is the major reason behind the students getting pampered
and this follows a series of incidents which is funny as well trouble
some..
Vimala Raman plays the lead female character Madhavi. She is being
cast opposite Mohanlal for the first time. The fun filled film will
has a bunch of new comers in prominent roles. There are six heroines
playing prominent roles including Ramya Nambeeshan, Samvrutha Sunil,
TV star Sajitha Beti, Soorya etc. Nedumudi Venu as the college manager
plays an important role in the film. Others in the cast include Janardhanan
as the principal, Cochin Haneefa, Siddique, Vijayarakhavan, Salim Kumar,
Suraj Venjaranmoodu, Risa Bava, Suja Menon, Ambika Mohan etc.
Suresh Poduval pens the characters, while Ouseappachan scores the music
for the film. Produced by Bensy Martin under the banner of Fairy Queen
Productions, the film is distributed by Emil and Eric.
The movie is slated for release during Ramzan.
