Actor-writer-producer-director Dev Anand, who is known for his undying
passion for cinema, is ready with yet another film titled "Mr. Prime
Minister", which releases Friday.
His last few films were disastrous but he has put the failures behind
and is gearing up for his latest film's premiere in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The film was extensively shot in earthquake-ravaged Kutch.
Dev Anand plays the central character Johnny Master and the film revolves
around him. A survivor of the earthquake, Johnny is a happy-go-lucky
elderly man and sells newspapers for a living in a small village of
Gujarat.
His life changes when government declares parliamentary elections post
earthquake. The residents of the village decide to form their own political
party and make Johnny their candidate.
Johnny wins but destiny has something else for him. His opponents join
hands and kidnap him. After being tortured, Johnny regains his memory
and discovers that he is Prem Batra, the richest Indian, and on the
very day of his arrival in Kutch he had become a victim of the earthquake.
How he busts the racket of corrupt politicians and becomes the prime
minister is the crux of the story.
The film is written, produced and directed by the actor and also stars
Prem Chopra, Milind Gunaji, Boman Irani and Mohan Joshi in important
roles.
