Tamil M.A. is a film that reflects society, and the journey of one man from his youth to adulthood.

Director Raam's autobiographical venture has Jeeva playing the main protagonist, Prabhakar.

Prabhakar hails from Kerala. He has done his schooling in Ambasamudram and graduated from Tirunelveli. Having travelled around Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, he arrives in Chennai like many others, in search of work.

The love of his life, his soul-mate is Anandi (Anjali), a character who loves Prabhakar beyond words. They complete and complement each other's lives. She has blind faith in Prabhakar. Not that she is stupid, but she finds immense joy and satisfaction in feeling this complete dependence on Prabhakar.

The film explores the trials and tribulations of Prabhakar and his love.

While talking about Jeeva, Ram said that he wanted an actor who could look convincing as a 17-18 year old and at the same time play a mature 28-29 year old man. Jeeva's versatility as an actor convinced him that he was the right choice. Ram said that Jeeva was just like a small child, ready to be moulded in any way.

The stills and posters of the film convey the same, as Jeeva has undergone a tremendous physical makeover for the film. He looks realistic as a young naive teenager and also as a disillusioned, tired man nearing 30.

For Anjali, who plays Anandi in the film, this is her debut in Tamil films. (She has appeared in two films in Telugu.) The actress has tremendous talent and has worked very hard for the role. Very committed and sincere, Anjali has dubbed for the film too, despite the language being new to her.

Yuvan Shakar Raja has composed music for the film. This is expected to be a completely different Yuvan score, which will definitely elevate the film to a completely different level. The Contest have been penned by Na. Muthukumar.

Ramji has handled cinematography, while editing is by Illayaraja. Under the banner of Modern and Reality creations, the film is produced by L.N. Murthy, Dr. K. Prasanna and K. Rajkumar.
