Bread Halwa

Bread halwa is an easy recipe that can be prepared at home with left over bread crumps. It is a pudding delicacy and can be served during festivals or evening tea parties.

Ingredients :

Bread - 1 loaf
Ghee - 3/4 cup
Cardamom - 5-6 Nos
Cashew nuts - 2 tbsp
Raisins - a few
Milk - 1 ltr
Sugar - 1/4 Cup

 Cooking Method :

Slice the bread into small size pieces. Heat 3-4 tbsp of ghee in a pan under medium flame. Add the bite size bread crump's into the pan, continue to saute and fry until golden brown colour. Remove the bread from the pan and keep it aside in a plate.

Meanwhile grind cardamom and cashew nuts in a mixture. Transfer it to a bowl for later use. Similarly for seasoning, fry cashew nuts and raisins in a frying pan for two minutes and keep aside.

Boil 1 ltr milk in a pan, add formerly made bread pieces into the milk and mix well. Now add the ground cardamom and cashew nut mixture , continue sauteing. Let it simmer till the bread pieces turn soft. Add sugar to taste.

Now when the bread is almost done, garnish the recipe with ghee for extra flavour and finely mix fried cashew nuts and raisins.

Bread Halwa is ready to serve.
