The maker of 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron' and 'Kya
Kehnaa', Kundan Shah is now ready again with a couple of films to test the
Box-Office waters. In one of his forthcoming movies, 'Dil Hai Tumhara',
Shah once again teams up with Preity Zinta, who happened to be the lead
protagonist of his last hit. And yes, the subject of this film too has women
playing crucial roles. Besides Zinta, the film stars ravishing Rekha also.
Although the title suggests DHT to be a romantic movie, it is woven around
an intricate mother-daughter relationship. Preity plays Shalu, a tomboyish,
wacky young girl who loves her stepmother Sarita (Rekha) and strives hard
to win her love and attention. But Sarita, due to some reasons, keeps
her at bay. She showers all her affection on her elder daughter Nimmi
(Mahima Chaudhary). Life moves on and one day, a handsome, successful
and eligible businessman Dev (Arjun Rampal), who knows his mind and gets
what he wants, comes Shalu's way. Sameer (Jimmy Shergil) who is an ace
ventriloquist, is Shalu's best friend and her punching bag. Both these
men are head over heels in love with her. In the meantime, Shalu's stepsister
Nimmi also falls in love with Dev. This is where the complication arises...
Shalu too is in love with him. However, Shalu's love is sidetracked when
her mother asks for her help. Shalu, who has always searched for ways
to win her mother's attention and love, takes up this opportunity to save
her mother's political career.
DHT is, from here, a story of complex yet intense relationships where
a mother and a daughter, two guys and two girls and others who are attached
to their lives, strive and try to get what they deeply want for themselves.
Some lose and some gain. Some understand and some make others understand.
But in the end, the web of relationships shapes up in the right form with
the right kind of attitudes. The director, who has made 'Nukkad' and 'Intezaar'
kind of extremely interesting television soaps, where everything was woven
around relationships, has a great sense of portraying every facet of the
human psyche imaginatively. And one can surely hope that DHT will also
live up to the expectations. 'All I Need Is Love' is the catch line of
DHT and the promos have further raised the expectations. The music is
by Nadeem-Shravan who once again teams up with Sameer to give the term
'melody' a new meaning. The soundtrack for Dil Hai Tumhaara is already
out and seems, like most of the recent soundtracks from Nadeem- Shravan,
it will gradually grow on the listeners...
