Two weeks notice

When you put together a brilliant, morally upstanding lawyer from Harvard, and a rich business executive who inherited his fortune, with no work experience or morals to speak of, what do you get? An amusing, funny film which will leave you smiling in the end.

Sandra Bullock plays Lucy Kelson, a lawyer who was taught by her parents to fight for what is good and right in the world. She defends the homeless, organises protest rallies against dynamiting of old buildings and so on. Along comes George Wade, played by Grant, who probably would have sold his parents for a profit.

These two make an unlikely match but end up being paired for mutual benefit—Lucy compromising her moral work ethics, becomes chief counsel for Wade to save a historic building which Wade would love more than anything to turn into another one of his modernizing communities'.

And so begins an interesting relationship. After serving one year as his strictly professional assistant she tires of it and gives him two weeks notice. But, she cannot leave until she helps him hire a replacement and George who's completely dependent on her by now, doesn't want to let her go. The rest of the movie deals with how they try out different ways to meet their ends and of course, the ending is inevitable....

The humor brought to the film by both Grant and Bullock are witty and uplifting. Grant, especially has a way with delivering dry wit. Although this seems to be yet another trite romantic comedy, this is much better than others that have been released recently.

So if you are in the mood to laugh a little, and perhaps be persuaded into a romantic mindset—check out Two Weeks Notice. We give it two thumbs up!
