It is a romantic comedy set in 1930's and based on Oscar Wilde's classic play "Lady Windermere's Fan" that deals with sex and marriage.
Set in the beautiful Amalfi coast in Italy, in 1930's, Helen Hunt plays
Mrs. Erlynne, a "woman of ill repute", a penniless New York socialite
who travels to Europe to join the vacationing aristocrats and to catch
her next prey. She is well known for making a living by seducing wealthy
married men of New York.
Mrs. Erlynne becomes friendly with a wealthy young American Robert Windermere
(Mark Umbers) who is newly married to Meg (Scarlett Johansson). Robert
quickly falls under her spell. Meg is convinced that her husband is having
an affair with Mrs. Erlynne and Meg herself gets attracted to the playboy
Lord Darlington (Stephen Campbell Moore). But there are other characters
like Lord Augustus (Tom Wilkinson) who is fascinated by the charm and
beauty of Mrs. Erlynne. The kind hearted Lord Augustus knew that
Mrs. Erlynne is only interested in his wealth but he still pursues his
love affair with her. When Meg falls in love with Lord Darlington, there
are unexpected consequences on everyone in the drama. Find out more about
this romantic tale.

Director Mike
Barker skillfully narrates an old period romantic tale of love and betrayal.
He cleverly handles the complications of love and marriage. He puts together
an excellent cast and draws great performance out of them.
Helen Hunt as Mrs. Erlynne presents a very good performance. She effectively
portrays the vulnerability and pain of a seducer, who makes her living
by bed hopping with wealthy married men. She is beautiful and radiant.
But Tom Wilkinson as Lord Augustus steals the show. As a wealthy but good
hearted man he will easily be the favourite of the audience.
As a period movie it has good entertainment value. The costumes are fabulous and the
scenery of the beautiful Mediterranean is breath taking. The film has adultery and some
attempted seduction but as a whole it is entertaining.
