Movie is all about issue of suicide with no answer in sight, why they do it. Gopinatha Menon (Dileep) is a civil engineer working in Gujarat. After the terrible riots in Gujarat, one fine morning Gopinath commits suicide. Nobody had any clue why he did it, other than the suicide note he left, saying "For the shame of being alive". .

As the story unfolds, it is disclosed that Gopi was ashamed and terrified by the rape of a teenaged Muslim girl who was his neighbour, during the riots. The story is told as an investigation by Gopinath's fiancée Renuka (Jyothirmayi) who decided to find out the real cause of his suicide. She interviewed a lot of people that Gopi was associated with. Finally she has to believe one of his close friends, who emphasised that the only reason for Gopi to end his life was the mental agony he suffered as a result of the Gujarat riots.

Veteran film maker T.V.Chandran, who is well known for his award winning films, try to portray a different kind of theme through this film. It might lack the realty to picture a well educated Keralite as a woozy protagonist who took his life without much explanation. Even with 100% literacy, suicide rate is on the rise in Kerala. Chandran may want to make the people aware of situations that they can get into while they standup and protest against the injustice that takes place in the society. He has extracted very good performance out of the cast. Cinematography is also good.

Dileep presents a very good performance as Gopinath. Emotions and shakiness of a troubled mind are well portrayed. Jyothirmayi does justice to her role. Rest of the cast members are also good. Film could be classified as an "Art Film". It has it's own merits and pitfalls. Above all, it has an emotional resonance and poignancy that will stay with you for a long time after seeing it.
