Tum: A Dangerous Obsession
Cast
: Manisha Koirala, Karan Nath, Rajat Kapoor,   Netanya Singh
Director
: Aruna Raje
Music
: Himmesh Reshammiya
Producer
: Entertainment One, Prakash Jha Productions

'Tum' written and directed by Aruna Raje of 'Rihahee' fame, falls far below expectations for its narration as well as its overall execution.

Kamini (Manisha Koirala) and Vinod, a middle aged couple married for 18 years, are going through a dull phase in their relationship. They decide to liven things up by spending their 18th anniversary at Mauritius. Kamini leaves from Mumbai on time, but Vinod who was supposed to get to Mauritius from New York gets delayed. He couldn't make it on time for their anniversary. Kamini feeling lonely meets Jatin, a young photographer who gives her company. She spends most of the day with him, dances and dines with him. After dinner and one or two drinks, Jatin takes her to her room and the inevitable happens....

The next day Vinod arrives and oblivious of what happened spends his time with his wife and they leave for Mumbai. Till then the film proceeds in a 'Summer of 42' angle, of a young man obsessed with an elderly woman but then the story takes a turn. Jatin who's obsessed with Kamini follows them to Mumbai and gets friendly with her family. He tries to blackmail her- even threatens to hurt her daughter if she doesn't give in to his demands.

The story goes haywire in the second half. It suddenly turns into a murder mystery...Even the climax leaves much to be desired.

The director should have concentrated on one angle instead of changing the track completely in between. The obsession the youngster feels for Manisha is far from realistic...one wonders whether the man is obsessed or crazy. The direction as well as the screenplay is weak. Cinematography and Music are just okay, Adnan Sami's 'Kyon Mera Dil' is the only number worth a note.

There is no noteworthy performances, especially cause the characters are not well defined. Manisha and Rajat Kapoor are okay. Karan Nath does not project his part well. Netanya Singh plays Karan's girlfriend Esha- just appears to bear her skin.

The film is no good.. it may appeal to the front benchers for the much publicized sexual scenes.
