Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
Cast
: Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol devgan, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor
Director
: Karan Johar

Karan Johar's much talked about mega movie 'Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Ghum' brings together a line of stars including the old hit pair Amitabh and Jaya after a long gap of 16 years

The story revolves around the Raichand family, the business man Yashovardhan (Amitabh Bachchan), his wife Nandini (Jaya Bachchan), adopted son Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), younger son Rohan (Hrithik Roshan). A rich and happy family with everything going for them. The problems start when Rahul falls in love with a Punjabi girl Anjali ( Kajol) from a middle class family. Unknown to him his father has already chosen Naina (Rani Mukherjee), his friends daughter as his prospective daughter- in- law. Rahul marries Anjali and brings her home with his mothers blessings. But the strict and arrogant Yahovardhan who cannot bear this, lashes out revealing Rahul's adopted status. Disheartened, Rahul leaves his family with his wife Anjali. Rohan who was away in school at the time when all this happens, is devastated to find the brother he adored, gone.

JBack to the present.. ten years later a grown up Rohan who is back home from school vows to re-unite the family. Learning that his brother is settled in London, he convinces his father into sending him to London for further studies. There he meets Pooja (Kariena Kapoor), Anjali's younger sister and they team up to unite the family. Pooja persuades Rahul into giving food and boarding for Rohan at his place in London without knowing that it is his own brother. Rohan slowly reveals his identity, convinces Rahul to return home. Yashovardhan and Nandini lands in London .. Rohan coaxes his father to forgive his brother and at last after many confrontations Yashovardhan realises his mistake, apologises to his son and the family reunites.

There is nothing new in the story still the film holds the audience. Amitabh Bachchan as the arrogant and strict father has performed convincingly but his roles have become repetitive recently. Jaya Bachchan is good as always. Her scenes with Shah Rukh is something to watch. Unfortunately Shah Rukh Khan was unable to take full advantage of the character and he is like any other star in the film. Kajol as a typical Punjabi girl has done her part well. Hritik Roshan has style, emotes and dances well, and definitely steals the hearts of youngsters. Kareena tries to look beautiful through out the movie.

Karan Johar has put together yet another emotional drama with a huge star cast and a huge budget. It may go well with the masses, but the movie lacks freshness.
