'TROY' is a Greek epic based on great poet Homer's 'The Iliads', saga of Trojan war that involve greedy kings, lusty virgins, spectacular battle sequences and the world's most beautiful woman the proverbial Helen with ' A face that launched a thousand ships'.

The movie is basically the story of Helen ( Diane Kruger) of Troy. She is the Queen of Sparta and the wife of King Menalaus (Brendan Gleeson). The Kingdom is visited by two Princes of Troy, Hector (Eric Bana) and Paris (Orlando Bloom) on a peace mission. Paris and Helen fall in love and he takes her with him to Troy and doesn't want to give her up. This creates a conflict between the Kingdoms of Sparta and Troy. King Menalaus and his brother King Agamemnon ( Brian Cox) unite a huge army and starts a war with Troy.

Achilles ( Brad Pitt) is Agamemnon's top warrior. He is the son of a Goddess and an immortal man and hence is stubborn, arrogant and does not bow to any King but loves fighting wars just to achieve glory. Achilles puts up a massive attack on the fortress city of Troy fiercely guarded by the Trojan warriors, and topples the towers of the great city- a war that threatened the entire civilization.

The movie is a great account of bloody warfare, great adventures as well as passionate romances of Paris and Helen, Achilles and Trojan capture and a priestess, Briseis ( Rose Byrne), Hector and his wife Andromache (Saffron Burrows). Pitt as Achilles, handsome Orlando Bloom as Paris and Peter O'Toole as King Priam, the father of Hector and Paris, have great depth in their characters; Achilles portraying revolt and boldness, Paris' never ending lust for Helen and King Priam as a justice ruler. Cinematography is great and computer generated images are visually marvelous and the story is an excellent classic epic.

Women viewers can see handsome Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom and men can see the radiant Diane Kruger, but the German actress may not be good enough to inspire men to commit treason or to launch thousand ships to start a war and kill thousands of men. There are no Greek God or Goddess as seen in the 'Elliots' in the film. Movie may not be for everyone but it is a good entertainer as a tale of romance and heroism.

We rate this movie Good.
