Opening scenes of this sequel show ogre Shrek (Mike Myers) and his bride Princess Fiona off on their honeymoon leaving Donkey (Eddie Murphy) behind. When they get back home to the swamp, they find that they have an invitation from Fiona's parents, King Harold ( John Cleese), Queen Lillian ( Julie Andrews) to visit their Kingdom of Far, Far Away. Shrek, at first doesn't want to go but Fiona convinces him and Donkey to accompany her to the Kingdom.

The King and the Queen had no idea that their daughter's husband is an ogre and not a Prince Charming and they were shocked to see two ogres and a donkey. As expected, Fiona's parents rejects Shrek and insults him. Fiona consoles her fuming husband but his stubborn behavior alienates her.

The plot leads us to the Fairy Godmother ( Jennifer Saunders), a sinister figure, who appears to be helpful for Fiona, but she is interested only in fixing up Fiona with her handsome son Prince Charming. To accomplish this mission, Fairy Godmother promise Fiona the life of her dreams with potions, makeovers and spells. The King also like the idea and he uses the help of the assassin Puss in Boots( Antonio Banderas), a cute but ferocious kitten.

'Shrek2' is a nice story. Directors keep the story flowing smoothly without loosing attachment to the main theme, the Shrek and Fiona's love for each other. Also, the movie emphasizes that external beauty has nothing to do with eternal happiness. Movie has several songs but most of them are not memorable. Computer generated animation by the DreamWorks team is amazing. As a whole this is a good sequel and there is great scope for another sequel ' Shrek3'.

The film can be rated as good.
