Seabiscuit is the true history telling of a 1930’s tale of a horse who has been labeled one who is less than a winner, and three men making a dream come true. This 'down and out' horse is made a winner against all odds, and even beats a Triple Crown winner, 'War Admiral', in a 1938 race heard by millions of Americans over the radio, leading him to not only win the race, but the hearts of all.

The three men that bring him to his glory also have sad tales of their own. His owner, Charles Howard (Jeff Bridges), is a millionaire via selling Buicks in Northern California, but loses his zest for life after a tragic accident takes the life of his son. The trainer, Tom Smith (Chris Cooper), is a no-longer cowboy, whose open fields are quickly disappearing in reality. And finally, the jockey, John "Red" Pollard (Tobey Maguire) is broken away from his poor family and now lives the hard life as a part time jockey, part time boxer.

Although these men, and 'Seabiscuit' have experienced much misery individually, when they are brought together, they become a winning combination.

Bridge, Cooper, and Maguire do great jobs in each of their roles, capturing the heart of the audience. There are at times when the film begin to lose its momentum but Ross expertly blends archive footage within, in the movie.

Although there could be a bit less of the overly dramatic scenes, this flick is good and we give it two thumbs up!
