"Collateral" is a thriller, action drama about a wild Los Angeles night ride. Maxx(Jamie Foxx) has been driving a cab in Los Angeles for more than a dozen years. He had dreams of owning a fleet of cabs one day. One night he started off as usual, he picks up a beautiful lawyer Annie Farrell (Jada Pinkett) and after some flirtations drop her off at her office. Then he picks up a mysterious passenger Vincent (Tom Cruise). After a short conversation, he offers Maxx $600 to take him to all his appointments that night. Maxx reluctantly accepts the offer without knowing what Vincent has in the storage.

Vincent is a hit man, hired by drug trafficking cartel and flown into Los Angeles to eliminate five key witnesses in an upcoming drug trafficking trial and Vincent has to finish the job before dawn. As soon as a dead body lands on Maxx's cab, he realizes that Vincent is not his normal passenger.

The rest of the night, Maxx is forced by Vincent to drive around all over Los Angeles and FBI and LAPD are on their tail. Maxx feels trapped and humiliated but under the guidance of Vincent, gradually learns his passenger's will and assertiveness and he becomes a new man.

Director Michael Mann brilliantly presents an every day Los Angeles cab driver and a vicious hit man and spins a stylish tale. The depth of darkness in the City of Los Angeles make the movie more thrilling. He has shown in great detail Los Angeles by night. He has very well capitalized the tension between the cab driver and the cold blooded hit man and has orchestrated the actions with great precision.

Tom Cruise as a murderous ruthless hit man gives a dynamic performance. On the other hand, Foxx steals the show. Throughout the film he presents a superb performance. Cruise and Foxx make a great team. The outstanding cast present a great performance. Elegantly written and well acted, the movie is enjoyable. If you are a Tom Cruise fan, you will love this dazzling "Slick Vincent" of "Collateral".

We rate this movie Good.
