Ashok Vijaya Dashmi also known as Vijaya Dashmi or Dussehra / Dasara is an important festival of Nagpur, celebrated by the followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. It is celebrated on 14th of October, the auspicious day on which Ambedkar is supposed to have adopted the Buddhism religion at Deekshabhoomi. On this day, lakhs of followers congregate at Deekshabhoomi to commemorate the Dharma-Chakra Pravartan completed by Dr Ambedkar. Various community celebrations along with cerebral speeches and feast are also organized as a part of Ashok Vijaya Dashmi.
