Kidney Stones
Causes
Though the exact reason for kidney stone is unknown, they can
be related with a high concentration of calcium in the urine or blood. The most
common cause of kidney stones is decreased fluid intake (dehydration). A person
with a family history of kidney stones are at higher risk of developing this
disease. Urinary tract infection, urinary
obstruction, genetic abnormality, various kidney disorders and several medical
conditions may cause kidney stones. Diet also plays an important role in the
development of kidney stones.
An evaluation of the actual stone, along with 24-hour urine
collections and blood tests, are helpful in identifying the causes of stone
formation. Identifying the cause will help the doctor to decide what specific
therapy will decrease further attacks of kidney stones. |
