'Gharana' is an annual festival of Hindustani classical music held in January at Chennai. The festival organised by Prakriti Foundation began in the year 2006, with an aim to initiate South Indian music lovers with the richly resonant art of Hindustani music, especially the Dhrupad style, the oldest form of Hindustani classical music. The past festivals had enchanting performances from the doyens of gharana traditions. Eminent artists who have performed in the Gharana Festival include Ustad Fahimuddin Dagar, Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar Baha'ud'din Mohiuddin Dagar of the well known Dagar family which boasts of generations of dhrupad singers, Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha, Pt. Dhruba Ghosh , Ustad Asad Ali Khan etc

The festival is usually conducted at the fabulous Museum Theatre in Egmore, Chennai annually. For the three days this event is held, Chennai enjoys the presence of a number of eminent Hindustani music maestros.
