Peshwe Park/ Peshwa Udyan

Peshwe Park alias Peshwe Udyan Zoo is a zoological garden, situated right next to Parvati hill and bordering the Saras Bagh, in Pune. Peshwa Park derives its name because it was once a shikharkhana for the Peshwas. Later the Pune Municipal Corporation converted the park into a zoo and amusement park. The zoo houses a large variety of wild animals like white tigers, deer, bucks, elephant and reptiles as well as various species of colorful birds. There is a beautiful garden inside the zoo with a temple of Lord Ganesha at the center. Dates back to the 17th century, the temple is adorned with intricate carving and beautiful wall decorations. Spreads over acres of verdant green foliage, this large park offers boating facilities, animal rides and a play park for children with a toy-train (' Phool Rani') ride. The park remains open from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
