Gurusingh Sabha situated in Ganesh Peth is the first
Gurudwara in Pune. It is one of the oldest and biggest pilgrimage places
of Sikhs of Pune. The Gurudwara is open to the people of all the religion.
It opens early in the morning with prayers. The ceremonies begins with
'Matha Tekna' (means bowing down to Gurugrantha Sahib, the sacred text
of Sikhs), followed by 'Japjisaheb'(kirtans -Morning Prayer) and then
concludes with 'Ardas' -the reading of quotes from the 'Granth Sahib'
randomly. According to the teaching of Guru Nanakdev, the first Guru ''all
human beings on this Earth are equal and whatever is produce should be
equally distributed among all”, a community Lunch 'Langar' is served on
every Sunday to all the people irrespective of rich or poor. The important
festivals like the birth anniversaries of the first guru, Guru Nanakdevji
and tenth guru, Guru Govindsinghji are celebrated here with great enthusiasm.
