Chauk Masjid alias Chowk Masjid, known for its beautiful five domes was
in 1665 A.D by Shayista Khan, the maternal uncle of Emperor Aurangzeb.
The facade of the masjid has five pointed arches, of which two arches
are very deep. These pillars are connected with one another by eight pillars
and corresponding pilasters and they support the five domes. The central
dome is elevated and has a metallic steeple, while the other domes are
hidden in the roof. The gate of the masjid has two minarets and in the
courtyard, there is a cistern. The whole structure of masjid has a high
basement containing chambers used for shop, which open out on the roadside.
