Sardar Vallabhai Patel Police Museum

Sardar Vallabhai Patel Police Museum, located just opposite to Kollam railway station within the premises of east police station, is the only one of its kind in India.

The museum which is an idea of honorable Inspector General of Police B. Sandhya IPS, portrays the history of Police department in Kerala. The artifacts are housed in an old mansion with four courtyards and it includes guns, bullets, machines, variety of weapons, police arms as well as ammunitions which were used during the 18th and 19th century. It also houses charts showing the investigation information regarding fingerprints, DNA tests, snaps of police dogs and medals given to Policemen. Another major attraction of Sardar Patel museum is the Martyr's gallery. The photographs of Tsunami at Kollam and Malanada Fire works incident is really heartbreaking.

In front of the museum, there is a statue of Sarder Patel, sculpted by Mr. Santhosh and weighing 1.1 tonnes. Sardar Vallabhai Patel Police Museum opens on all days from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, except on Sundays. The entry fee is Rs.3/- for adult and Rs. 1 for Children.
