Milagres Church is situated 7 km from Udupi. This church was established by Bishop Thomas De Castro, a Theatine Priest in 1680 after an agreement between Queen Chennamma and the Portuguese in 1678. It is at the site of the present cemetery. After his death on 16 July 1684 his body was buried in the Milagres cemetery next to the St. Monica Chapel and his tomb was built with bronze slab. In 1811, the church was rebuilt by Fr. Mendez and when its portico distorted, Frank Pereira the parish priest at that time built the present church in 1911 along with Fr. Diamanti (an architect).
