PKD often exhibit no symptoms and the disease cannot be diagnosed
by a physical checkups and blood & urine test in its early stages.
To detect
kidney cysts, an ultrasound imaging is performed, which passes a harmless sound
waves through the body. CT (computerized tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance
imaging) and a genetic testing may also perform to detect the cysts.
In unborn babies PKD
can be diagnosed using a test called amniocentesis. It is the test of analysis
the amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby inside the uterus. Another test called
chorionic villus sampling is the examination of a small piece of the placenta.
