Ranith Gada (Fish Curry)

Serves 6-8

Ingredients :

  • Fish - 2kg 
  • Mustard oil - 2cups
  • Red chilli powder - 1tbs
  • Ginger powder - 2tsp
  • Turmeric - 1tsp
  • Aniseed powder - 1tsp 
  • Cloves - 3nos 
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Garam masala - 1tbs
  • Cumin seeds - 1tsp
  • Salt - to taste

Method of Preparation :

Clean and scrape out the fish nicely. Cut each fish into 3 pieces.

Fry the fish pieces in oil till golden brown. Keep aside.

Take a vessel and pour 1litre water, all the ingredients except garam masala and the oil left after frying the fish. Stir well and bring to a boil. Add fried fish pieces and cook on medium heat till the gravy thickens and oil separates. Sprinkle garam masala. Stir well and remove from fire. Serve with rice.
