Named after Maharana Fateh Prakash - one of the greatest rulers of Mewar
dynasty, Fateh Prakash Palace is a grand heritage palace standing majestically
along the eastern shores of Lake Pichola. Built in the early 20th century,
Fateh Prakash Palace is a part of city palace complex. Converted into
a heritage hotel, the magnificent Fateh Prakash Palace is a treasure house
of exquisite chandeliers and priceless paintings, unique crystal and crockery
collections. The interiors of the Fateh Prakash Palace hotel is dotted
with miniature paintings, portraits, royal artifacts and the armory of
the Mewar dynasty. The major attraction of Fateh Prakash palace hotel
is the imposing Durbar Hall - originally known as Minto Hall, which is
used as a banquet hall and hired out for special functions. The durbar
hall has seven crystal chandeliers suspended from its ceiling, of which
three of them is located on the center and the others are on the corners
of the hall.
The crystal gallery in the Fateh Prakash Palace hotel is probably the
largest private collection of crystal in the world with beautiful crystal
works including crystal chairs, tables and sofas, sculptures and crystal
beds. These master piece crystal collections was created especially by
F & C Osler in England for the young Maharana Sajjan Singh, who began
his reign in 1874. But unfortunately after a decade, before these crystals
reached the palace, the maharaja died and these crystals were packed away
in boxes until Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, decided to display it to the
public. Opened in 1994, the crystal gallery can be viewed from 9 a.m.
to 7 p.m. The entry fee to the crystal gallery is Rs. 500 for adult and
Rs. 300 for children.
Within the premises, the Fateh Prakash palace hotel offers several historic
venues for hosting exclusive banquets, conferences, ceremonial dinners,
corporate events, weddings etc. The top terrace of Fateh Prakash palace
hotel can seat up to 300 guests in buffet style dining and up to 190 guests
for formal banquets. The Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel was certified as the
best Heritage Hotel in 'Heritage Grand' category for 2001-2002 by the
Department of Tourism, Government of India.
