Udaipur is a delightful place for those who wanted to purchase folk toys,
brightly coloured garments, hand printed textiles, batiks, dyed saris,
metal images and Pichwal wall hangings. The city is famous for stone carved
items and traditional puppets known as 'Kathputlis' which is made of wood.
One can also purchase traditional handicrafts of Udaipur, precious stones,
silver, kundan jewellery, brassware, terracotta sculptures, metal and
mud pottery that includes plates, vessels, pots etc. Another item that
can purchase from the shops of Udaipur is the traditionally done Pichwai
paintings. These are the paintings of Lord Krishna, which are available
on wood, silk, marble, paper and ivory.
Hathi Pol, Bada Bazaar, Chetak Circle, Clock Tower, Mochiwada Bazar,
Mandi Bazar, Palace Road etc. are some of the major shopping arcades of
Udaipur. Mochiwada Bazar is known for handmade shoes while Mandi Bazar
is famous for fresh ground spices. One could get things in cheaper price
in these markets, for those who knows bargaining.
Rajasthali and Sadhna are two government emporiums that offer all the
products under a single roof. Qualify products are available at these
stalls, but at a fixed rate.
