Udaipur Lake Palace, initially known as Jag Niwas Palace, located amidst
the scenic Pichola Lake on Jag Niwas island is one of the most romantic
places in the world. This beautiful white-marble and granite structure
was build in 1746 by Maharana Jagat Singh II, as a summer residence of
the rulers. The magnificent lake palace stretches across an area of 4
acre is one of the best examples of Mughal-Rajput architecture with ancient
paintings, stain glass windows, antique furniture, bath reservoirs etc.
Lake Palace has a series of courtyards that are aligned with numerous
columns, terraces, beautiful fountains and well laid gardens. Sheesh Mahal
(The Mirror Palace), Krishna Vilas (The Abode of Lord Krishna), Chini
Chitrashala (Chinese Art Gallery), Mor Chowk (Peacock Court) and the Amar
Vilas (The Eernal Abode) are the major attractions of lake palace.
Now the lake palace has been renewed into a five-star heritage hotel
managed by gateway group of hotels that provides world class amenities
with immaculate hospitality. However, tourists can visit lake palace and
enjoy the serene view without any hassle.
