The 12th century Mailarlinga temple with beautifully carved pillars, situated in Unkal atop the great Vidyagiri Hill (earlier known as Mailarlinga Hill) offers a panoramic view of the surroundings. The idol of the temple deity Chaturbhuj Mailarlinga is installed in such a way that the first sun-ray falls on it, before daylight breaks over rest of Dharwad. It is said that Shri Siddappajja attain samadhi at this temple.
