How to reach :
By Air:
Lakshadweep has an airport in the island of Agatti and is very well connected by regular flights from
Kochi (Cochin) in Kerala, which serves as the gateway to Lakshdweep islands. It takes one and a half hour
flying time to travel from Kochi (Cochin) to Agatti. Kingfisher Airlines and Indian Airlines operate
flights from Kochi to Agatti Island. Indian Airlines operate daily flights except on Sundays.
Kochi (Cochin) is a major domestic and international airport of India, linked to nearly all the main Indian cities.
Helicopter services are available from Agatti to the capital city of
Kavaratti through out the year, and to Bangaram Island Resort during monsoon. From
Agatti, Kadmat and Kavaratti are also linked by speed ferry.
By Sea:
There are good options to reach Lakshadweep by sea. A number of passenger ships operate from Cochin to Lakshadweep
Islands such as M.V. Bharatseema, M.V Tipusultan, M.V Aminidivi and M.V Minicoy
etc. It takes 14-18 hrs for ships to reach Lakshadweep from Cochin. The ships offer accommodation facilities
such as A/c cabins and seating, accompanied by basic amenities and hospitable services. The other facilities offered on the vessel M.V Tipusultan
are entertainment lounge, cafeteria, video shows, snacks bar, upper-deck airing space, Doctor on call etc.
MV Amindivi and MV Minicoy offer only A/C seating for tourists. During the monsoon season, the ship services for Lakshadweep remain closed.
Boats are available to Kavaratti and Kadmat from Agatti
