Did You Know What 10 Minutes Can Do to Your Life?

Do you feel that you always have too many things on your hands, but too less time? As we wake up each day, we are blessed with a new day,24 hours,1440 minutes, or 86400 seconds which to some may seem like a lot of time, but to others too less. The question is not how much time we have but how well can we use it!


Here, are eight things which can contribute to our emotional, physical as well as financial wellbeing & need only about 10 minutes of your time:
 
Call your Loved Ones:

Most of us are caught in the chaotic whirlwind of activities that start on Monday morning and end on Sunday night and then again start all over again. While juggling jobs, running the household and doing other chores, you seldom get time to talk to your loved ones. Busy and absorbed in pursuing own goals; you are left with little time to make your family & friends feel special.

But do you know, it doesn’t take much to make someone feel you genuinely care about them. Sometimes, only a five-minute phone chat can bring a smile on their face and yours too. Many people measure happiness by how long the experience lasts, but the truth is that a few minutes of happiness here and there can bring positive changes in your life (and theirs too!)

Get Your Body Moving:

Shake, twist and move your body with your favourite music. Go for a quick small walk, run in the open air and refresh your mind. You will love it. Stop by on the door of your nearest neighbours you haven't talked to for a long time. Catch-up with them and say Hi! Climb stairs instead of taking the escalator or elevator.

Even if you are hard-pressed for time, you can’t use it as an excuse for not exercising. There are simple and easy excercises which you can do while you are at work, even within your office environment. For instance,palm stretching relieves stiffness of the fingers and wrists and can be done either sitting or standing in less than ten minutes.

The pressure of a desk job is most often felt in your neck and shoulder muslces. To relieve the stiffness, sit straight with your shoulders relaxed. Now bend your head towards left shoulder and hold the posture for five seconds. Repeat this movement wih the rights ide and do 7-8 times.
Believe us;it takes only 10 minutes to keep yourself fit.

Talk to Yourself:

Just go somewhere where you can relax and get some ‘Me’ time. Close your eyes and just feel the moment. In this crazy life, we all need some time to relax, so just shut your brain from all the problems and stop thinking. When you feel calm, step out and own the day!

Shop and Invest Online:

Shopping online is no less challenging with the multitude of options for each product. But if you know the experts to look up to while comparing and looking for suggestions, online shopping can be fast and fun.

Same goes for insurance and investments. You can buy an online insurance plan, or invest for tax saving and solidify your financial goals within minutes. Even if you have bought insurance through an advisor earlier, you may register your policies online to pay renewal premiums within minutes. So, this year, go paperless and contribute your bit towards the environment.

Transfer Money to Your Loved Ones:

Transferring money to your loved ones has never been faster. With online banking and mobile apps, you can transfer money to your kids, parents or other family members in another city within minutes.

Do a Random Act of Kindness:

“Be kind whenever possible, it is always possible”, these lines quoted by the Dalai Lama are indeed true! Though many would find it cosmic, it works. If you do good to others, you will feel good about yourself. If you’re getting back home from office with left-over foodin your lunch, give it to a needy person. That person will have a meal in the belly, and you will have warmth in your heart. Thanks to the internet, it will not take more than 10 minutes to make an online donation. Though such random acts of kindness will not take more than 10 minutes of your life; they will stay etched in your heart for many more days.

Take a Power Nap:

Believe it or not, a quick power nap for 10 minutes is a sure shot way for a quick energy boost. Power nap has the power to alleviate the functioning of the brain while improving your problem-solving skills, statistical learning, logical reasoning and a lot more.
Furthermore, taking a quick nap between a hectic schedule also enhances the mood and concentration power. Countries like Japan, have understood the significance of power nap and thus, their companies have made it mandatory for their employees to rest a few minutes after the lunch.
Here, in India, consider yourself lucky, if your company is generous enough to give you a bed or a couch in a discreet corner of the office, where you can go and rest for a few minutes. You can also catch those important 40 winks (or more) while commuting through cabs or shuttles. Not only that, napping significantly increases the heart’s health, but it also lowers the stress level, manages the blood pressure and even aids in weight management.

Write Your Heart Out:

Much to your surprise, writing without the guilt of making mistakes is another productive activity that can be done within 10 minutes to rejuvenate the mind. Just follow the stream of your consciousness and write whatever comes to your mind. This activity will make you understand yourself better by letting you explore a new aspect of your personality every day. As a result, you will soon inculcate a habit of writing.

A Word of Caution:

Even if you are a super busy man or woman (which you are!), you can definitely find small breaks throughout the day to get few of these meaningful things done. Instead of using those spare moments doing the mundane things like playing games on mobile, commenting on a status, checking emails, etc.; make the best use of the time by taking a cue from the above list.
Remember, ‘Time is non-refundable’, so use it with great intention!
