Air : 
Varanasi airport known as Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is located at Babatpur, about 18 km north-west of the city. The airport operates daily domestic flights to and from Varanasi to several cities in India. Indian Airlines, Air Sahara and Spice Jet have daily flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, etc. Indian Airlines flight shuttle on Delhi- Agra- Khajuraho- Varanasi route is popular popular among the tourists.

Rail : 
Varanasi is served by two major railway stations namely Varanasi Junction, also known as Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station (Code : BSB) and Varanasi City railway station (Code : BCY). Located in the heart of the city Varanasi junction railway station is under the administrative control of the Lucknow division of the Northern railway zone and the Varanasi city railway station is under the North Eastern railway zone.

Another railway station named Mughal Sarai Railway Station (code : MGS) which falls under the East Central Railway zone comes within Varanasi city limits. Almost all the trains from the east and north east passes through this busiest railway junction which includes Rajdhani Express, Toofan Express, North East Super Fast Express, Magadh Express etc.

Road :

Varanasi is very well connected by a network of roads and road transport to all major towns of Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas. The Central Bus Station, run by the Government of Uttar Pradesh is located on Sher Shah Suri Marg, in the cantonment area. It is at the junction of three National Highways, NH 2 (Kolkata-Delhi route), NH 7 (Kolkata-Kanyakumari route) and NH 29 (Kolkata-Gorakhpur route). City buses operates from the private bus stand situated near the Varanasi Junction Railway station. There are frequent buses to Delhi, Jhansi, Bareilly, Jaunpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Faizabad, and Gorakhpur.

For local transports, auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws are available. Mini buses are common in the outer regions of the city and for crossing the Ganges river small boats and small steamers are available.
