Rail :
Thane Railway Station falls on the railway line connecting Dadar and Panvel and is well served by long distance trains, many of which stop at Thane station en route Mumbai. Some of the trains that passes through the station includes Dadar-Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Express, Godavari Express, Kushinagar Express, Koyna Express, Kamayani Express, Lokmanya Tilak-Coimbatore Express, Mahanagari Express, Netravati Express, Sahyadri Express, Sewagram Express and Siddheshwar Express

Road :
Thane is well connected by road. NH 3 is the main road highways. Three national highways passes through the city and they are Mumbai-Agra Highway, Mumbai-Banglore Highway, Mumbai-Ahmadabad Highway. Regular private and state owned buses are available to almost all the parts of the state.

For local transport taxis and auto rickshaws are available. Taxis from Mumbai are allowed into Thane city while auto-rickshaws cannot enter the city limits.
