Also known as Manjinikkara Church, St. Stephens Jacobite Syrian Cathedral,
located atop a hillock is at a distance of 4kms from Pathanamthitta. This
major Christian pilgrim center, in modern style of architecture, was founded
by Kassisso Skaria Malpan Elavinammannil in 1925 and was renovated in
1964. The main altar of the church is dedicated to St. Stephen and the
altars on either sides are devoted to mother Mary and St. John the Baptist. The
mortal remains of Mar Ignatius Elias III (the holy Patriarch of Anthiod)
Mor Yulius Elias Qoro and Mor Yulius Yacoub (former Patriarchal delegates
to Malankara) are preserved in this church. The death anniversary of Mar
Ignatius Elias is celebrated as the annual festival of the church and
it is held on 13th February with much pomp and merriment.
