‘CHANDRAYAN’ At Race Village

Explaingin the saga of Chandrayan,  Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) is to join the Volvo Ocean Race Exhibition.

The exhibition is to spread awareness on India’s progress in space science. Basic information on the functioning of remote sensing satellites, communication satellites, Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicles (GSLV) and Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV) along with the history of the Indian space programme will be made available to the people. The main focus this time will be on expedition to the Moon.  Exhibition will strart on 2nd Decemeber.

Race’s Official sponsors like Volvo, Puma and Erricson will open pavilions in the Race Village. 'Ocean Race Trade Fest', an exhibition of Indian Brands, will also be organized at Willingdon Island. Exhibition is from 11 AM to 10 PM. When yachts reaches Cochin General Public will be allowed free entry in to the Race Village. Schools and educational institutions wanting to bring their students for conducted tours to the Race Village may contact the Port officers at phone No.94477 59018 or email at - visit@cochinoceanrace.com for facilitation.

The Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09 will be the 10th running of this ocean marathon. Spanning some 37,000 nautical miles, stopping at 11 ports and taking nine months to complete, the Volvo Ocean Race is the world's premier yacht race for professional racing crews.
