Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park  located at Jubilee hill, Hyderabad covers an area of 156.30 hectares. The park established in 1994 to safeguard the biodiversity and richness of the area, is named after late Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. 

The vegetation here is southern tropical deciduous and is the last remaining representative of the indigenous flora of Hyderabad region. The park has nearly 600 species of trees, shrubs, climbers, herbs, grasses, besides several pteridophytes, bryophytes and xerophytes. 

The fauna comprises around 113 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles, 15 species of butterflies, 20 species of mammals and numerous invertebrates. The park situated inside the city provides an urban refuge for Jungle Cats, Palm Civets, Wild Boars, Hares, Mongooses, Monitor Lizards, pea fowls, patridges, quails, Pythons, Cobras and other snakes. Only a few of the large mammals are found here. 

The park houses some historic monuments like the Chiran palace of the former Nizam of Hyderabad and others. Regular nature camps are conducted for school children for spreading environmental awareness among the citizens.

How to get there

Air: The nearest airport is Begumpet airport situated on the main road between Begumpet and Parade grounds (Secunderabad), roughly 5 Km from Secunderabad Railway Station. Indian Airlines has flights connecting Hyderabad with all major cities in India. 
Rail: Main railway stations are Secunderabad Station, Hyderabad Station (10 km) and Begumpet Station.
Road: The nearest APSRTC bus terminal is at Goliguda, Hyderabad (16 km). The AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has a busy district service that connects Hyderabad to every city, town and almost all villages. Hyderabad lies in the intersection of two national highways NH7 and NH9.
