Tulsi Manas Temple

The Tulsi Manas Temple is located 7 kilometers from the varanasi station, near to the famous Durga temple. Devoted to Lord Rama, it is a fairly modern temple built with white marble in Shikhara style of architecture by the philanthropist family in the year 1964. The temple is given the name of great saint poet of 16th century, Goswami Tulsi Das - the man who composed Ramayana in Hindi in the form of 'Ram Charit Manas'. Prior to that, Ramayana was only available in Sanskrit and that is why it was out of the reach of general masses. It is believed that the temple stands on the spot, where the famous Hindu epic Ramayana was composed.

The walls of Tulsi Manas temple are engraved with verses and scenes from the Ram Charit Manas. The upstairs are adorned with performing structures of warriors in Ramayana. This temple famed for its simplicity remains open from 5.30 am to 12.00 and from 3.30 pm to 9 pm.
