Ghogar, situated about 40 km from Rourkela is a beautiful
picnic spot surrounded by lush green scenic environment. The place is
famous for a long gorge on the River Ib and during the rainy season when
the water level of river comes down, it passes through a narrow stone
bed extending over five kilometers.
Major attraction of Ghogar is the naturally formed Siva Lingam of black
granite which is now enclosed in the Ghoghar Dham (Temple), managed by
Sri Ghogareswar Mahadeb Trust. Every year, thousands of devotes visit
this temple, especially in the months of Shravan (July/ August), Kartika
Purnima (November) and Shivaratri (February/ March).
