of the city is the major airport operating regular flights to the cities of Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bangalore etc. Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines, Indigo Airlines and Jet Airways are the major domestic airlines operated from here. Indian Airlines ply regular flights to Delhi, Chennai, Varanasi, Nagpur, Calcutta and Vishakhapatnam.

Rail :
Bhubaneshwar Railway Station (station code : BBS), located in the heart of the city, is a prominent railhead of the whole state of Orissa which falls under the administrative control of South Eastern Railways. It is well connected to the major cities of the country by daily express and passenger trains. Falaknuma Express, Howrah Puri Passenger, Visakha Express, East Coast Express, Guwahati Express, Coromandal Express, Howrah Mail and Utkal Express are some of the major trains passes regularly through this station.

Road :
Bhubaneshwar is well connected by a good road network and the national highway no.5 passes through this city. The major bus station of the city is situated at Barmunda, 8 km from the city centre, near to the Railway Station. Regular services are available from here to Berhampur, Cuttack, Konark, Puri, Paradip, Rourkela and Sambalpur and regular interstate services available between Kolkata and Puri via Bhubaneswar. The headquarters of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) is located at Bhubaneshwar. Besides this, Bhubaneswar has City Public Transport run by Bhubaneswar Puri Transport Service Limited (BPTSL) and Dream Team Sahara (DTS)

Taxis, auto-rickshaws, cycle-rickshaws and local bus services are available for local transport within the city. The old bus stand in Unit II (off Rajpath) is mainly used for local services.
